5 METHODS ONE MUST KNOW WHEN DEALING WITH STRESS

I am sure every one of us encounters different sort of minor stress to major crisis in daily life and it’s completely normal to have stress until and unless it affects our daily activities. Stress is nothing but imbalance of lifestyle and energy in our body. In process of searching happiness, stress becomes part and parcel however it is impermanent. We cannot control our fate or the circumstances, but our mentality and how we respond to towards stress makes a big difference. In present time of fast functioning generation, everything is expected to be done and achieved quickly and unfortunately the expectations are not always mean to fulfill. Hence, unable to fulfill the expectation is the root cause of stress. Therefore, I came up with some useful tips regarding how to deal with stress.

  1. Daily physical activities

Stress is caused by stimulation and elevation of stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol in our body during stressful situations. Aerobic exercise said to release endorphins which is a natural substance that help us to feel better and maintain a positive attitude. Physical exercise also helps us to metabolise stress hormones rapidly and reduce stress. Moreover it diverts our mind from stressful situation to the present moment and reduces stress. Exercise can be anything from Yoga to running or walking.

2. Get more sleep

Lack of sleep can significantly cause stress, headache, anxious and more over it may lead to depression in long run. Based on my personal experience, lack of sound sleep cause poor attention with poor performance, depressive mood, mood swings, muscle tensions, loss of focus which cause stress in work place. Therefore adequate amount of sound sleep of 8hrs is very important to reduce stress.

3. Have the courage to say no

Most people like to be polite and saying no to someone is difficult, and that is how we were taught and brought up from childhood. It is very important to be able to say no to certain situations where you feel uncomfortable or intuition within you says no. saying yes to everything is stressful when you do not able to accomplish what is supposed to be done. Therefore, saying no is necessary and required to be able to be you and yourself.

4. Time management

Time management is very important topic when it comes to stress management.  Most important elements of time management include scheduling and prioritizing of works to be done. When schedules are not well organized, it causes stressful situations. Grouping of work based on categories like importance, urgency and emergency help to do the task accordingly.  

5. Seek support from others

Seeking help when required is crucial in stress management. This is usually helpful in work life, seeking help and guidance from senior and experienced colleagues regarding what and how to be done the work when something is not known or not clear is very helpful to reduce stress. 

Stress and stressor is part of our life and we must know how to cope and overcome with it. Stress management techniques may differ from individual to individual but most common and effective methods includes, physical exercises, eating healthy food which contains antioxidant, getting enough sleep, seeking help and having the courage to say no to certain things. Be aware of your surrounding and help those who are having stress and get help for yourself too in dealing with your stress.
